Nationality
Indian nationals, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) are eligible. Foreign Nationals must upload an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities.

Academic Qualification (Updated 2026)
Candidates must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2024, 2025, or 2026 from any COBSE-recognised board in India. Candidates appearing for Class 12 in 2026 may also apply, subject to qualifying before counselling.
- Must have studied at least 3 subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics in Class 11 & 12.
- JKBOSE students (Kashmir/Ladakh) who appeared in Dec 2023 should select 2024 as passing year.

Admission Channel — IAT Only (KVPY & JEE Advanced Discontinued)
From 2026, all admissions are exclusively through IAT (IISER Aptitude Test). The KVPY and JEE Advanced channels that previously existed are completely discontinued. All candidates — regardless of KVPY fellowship or JEE rank — must appear for IAT 2026.

Age Limit
There is no age limit to apply for IAT 2026. Candidates only need to satisfy the qualifying year (2024/2025/2026) condition.

Number of Attempts
A candidate can appear for IAT a maximum of 3 times: in the year of Class 12 final exam, the following year, and the year after that.
