CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI) is the pioneering organization in Research and Development in the area of Food science and Technology and Human Resource Development. CFTRI is ISO 9001:2008; ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 17025:2005 Accredited Laboratory. As a part of human resource development, an International School of Milling Technology was established as a joint Indo-Swiss venture and Roller Flour Millers’ Federation of India project during 1981 to serve the needs of flour milling industry in n India and other developing countries with regard to training in flour milling technology.

So far 38 regular courses in Flour Milling Technology have been completed and 39th is in progress. In all, till date 780 participants including 115 from some of the other developing countries such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guyana, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Liberia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, The Philippines, Srilanka, Syria, Suriname, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, West Indies, Myanmar, Yemen, Zambia, have been trained. These trained personnel are serving in different roller flour mills in India and in various other countries. Since then, there have been qualitative changes in the working of these mills as per the feedback received from the milling industry.

ആക്ച്വറി സയൻസ് വളരെ സാധ്യതയുള്ള ഒരു മേഘലയാണ്. ഇന്നത്തെ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ ,വെറും ഒരു ഇൻഷുറൻസ് ഫിനാൻസ് അനലൈസർ എന്നതിലുപരി സാമ്പത്തികമായുള്ള എല്ലാ അപകടസാധ്യതകളെയും മനസിലാക്കുവാനും അവ പരിഹരിക്കുവാനുള്ള മാർഗങ്ങളും ശാസ്ത്രിയമായി മനസിലാക്കി എല്ലാ മേഖലകളിലും സജീവമായി ഇടപെടാവുന്ന ഒരു പ്രൊഫഷനലുകളായി  മാറുകയാണ്  ആക്ച്വറിയൽ വിദഗ്ദ്ധർ. 

പ്ലസ്ടു പഠനത്തിനുശേഷം ഡിഗ്രി പഠനത്തോടൊപ്പം ആക്ച്വറി സയൻസ് ഫെല്ലോഷിപ്പ്  15 പേപ്പറുകൾ എഴുതിഎടുക്കാവുന്നതാണ് .കണക്കിനോടും സ്ഥിതിവിവരകണക്കിനോടും വരാൻ പോകുന്ന സാമ്പത്തിക സാഹചര്യങ്ങൾ മനസിലാക്കുവാൻ താല്പര്യമുള്ളവർക്കും കഠിനാധ്വാനത്തിലൂടെ 5 -6 വർഷങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് നാലു ഘട്ടങ്ങളുള്ള ഈ ഫെല്ലോഷിപ്പ് നേടാം . കഴിഞ്ഞ വർഷത്തെ കണക്കുപ്രകാരം ഇന്ത്യയിൽ ആകെയുള്ള ആക്ച്വറിയൽ ഫെല്ലോഷിപ്പുള്ളവർ വെറും 439 പേരാണ്.

IAI is a statutory body established under The Actuaries Act 2006 (35 of 2006) for regulation of profession of Actuaries in India. The provisions of the said Act have come into force from 10thday of November 2006, in terms of the notification dated 8th November 2006, issued by the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs. As a consequence of this, the erstwhile Actuarial Society of India was dissolved and all the Assets and Liabilities of the Actuarial Society of India were transferred to, and vested in, the Institute of Actuaries of India constituted under Section 3 of the Actuaries Act, 2006.

How does one become an Actuary ?

• The only eligibility criterion is that the examinee must have appeared 10+2 examination or an equivalent examination with English as one of the subjects at 10 + 2 level.
• It is expected that many of those who are already in education at higher levels and also those working and having qualifications in mathematical subjects would take up the examinations. For example engineering students or professionals, chartered and cost accountants, company secretaries, management graduates, degree holders in mathematical and statistical sciences etc are expected to take this exam.
• If an examinee passes the examination and subsequently applies for membership, their membership acceptance would be subject to production of attested true copies of certificates that would be subject to independent verification.

What is the mode of Examination? Is it online or offline?

• It is a computer based examination where the examinees have to be present at their chosen testing centre administered in 24 centres across India.

Registration fee

• The registration fee for the entrance exam is Rs. 3,000 (three thousand only).

Structure of Entrance 

• The exam will have multiple choice questions with one correct answer for each question.
• The allocation of Marks will be as under:
• 1. Mathematics – 30 marks
• 2. Statistics – 30 marks
• 3. Data Interpretation – 15 marks
• 4. English – 15 marks
• 5. Logical Reasoning – 10 marks

What is the pass mark for ACET 

• The Question paper will not have any sectional cut offs. The Pass mark for ACET Examination is 50%.

Whether 12th appeared student can appear for the ACET Examination?

• Yes, but after passing ACET, at the time of applying for IAI student membership, the student should have qualified 12th standard.

What is the advantage of passing the ACET ?

• Note that your membership acceptance would be subject to production of attested true copies of your education certificates that would be subject to independent verification within the timelines specified. 
• Also once your membership is accepted and you receive the student membership ID, you can subscribe for the study material of your selected Core principle subjects online. You can then apply for the Regular Actuarial Examinations.
• Note: Validity of ACET results is only for three years from the date of declaration of exam result for taking student membership of IAI.

How frequently will the Entrance exam be held?

• The exam will be held three times in a year tentatively in months of June, September/October and January.
